A vast campaign of work is currently underway at la Maison de tante Léonie to restore it to the 1880s appearance that Marcel Proust knew as a child. This work is led by the departmental council of Eure-et-Loir, with the support of the Fondation du Patrimoine and the Française des Jeux - Mission Stéphane Bern.

The Société des amis de Marcel Proust et des amis de Combray opened a temporary museum on January 21, 2022, which will last for the duration of the work. It presents, in the places put at its disposal by the town hall of Illiers-Combray, works of its collection and the reconstitution at the real size of two important rooms of the house, the room of the little Marcel and that of Aunt Léonie, such as they will be restored.
